Stopping the Harmful Effects of Gum Disease
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an estimated one out of every two adults in the United States suffers from gum disease. Even though this condition is preventable, people commonly experience symptoms of it, like bleeding gums while flossing or brushing, gum recession, and even loose permanent teeth. The best way to reverse and treat the issue is to visit our office as soon as you notice the signs of gum disease. We offer multiple therapy options to restore your oral health and prevent additional damage from occurring to your mouth.

Scaling & Root Planing
Scaling and root planing is a two-step process that typically takes place over the course of two appointments. During the first, our team will clear away any plaque and tartar attached to the surface of your teeth, as far down as the pockets of your gums. After that, we’ll smooth out the roots of your teeth to allow your gum tissue to healthily reattach to your teeth and provide them with necessary protection.
Antibiotic Therapy
Usually, we recommend antibiotic therapy in combination with scaling and root planing to help fight off harmful oral bacteria that are causing you discomfort. The antibiotics can be administered in the form of a mouthwash or pill, depending on your preference, and will act to target the bacteria that are attacking your gums. It’s important to complete your entire treatment plan of antibiotics to make sure that the bacteria don’t build up a resistance to them.
